Rubble Trench Footings

Probably one of the hardest ways to support a straw bale wall.  However it can and has been done on many occasions.  Here we will look at timber and steel piers, bearers and joists.  I will update this page as and when we do other straw bale buildings off the ground.  You will need a geo technical report on your soil type and then a structural engineer to design the footings.  I trust that the following photographs are of some help:
